WordPress VIP hosting: some feedback

This post: “wordpress-vip-one-year-in”
offers some interesting feedback on WordPress’s VIP hosting option. Sounds like a good plan if you can get it but only for very high traffic sites. I wonder how different it is from simply hosting in a cloud environment that offers scaling.
